ANTICIPATED WATERFRONT STUDY END-PRODUCTS
The waterfront study is intended to conduct an in-depth investigation of the physical constraints and potential opportunities for the redevelopment and revitalization of areas along the Delaware River waterfront. In this vein, the study will investigate a number of issues including identification of
- all resources (natural and built)
- protection and preservation measures, costs, and sources of funding.
- suitable for development or redevelopment area
- physical constraints impeding development/redevelopment
- legal constraints needing addressing or impeding development/redevelopment
- appropriate land and water uses for each area
- needed changes in local policy, plans, and regulatory documents (e.g., zoning).
- strategies to attract private developers and investment
The waterfront study will be the first step in a series of actions that will eventually culminate in the redevelopment and revitalization of the waterfront. There are a number of anticipated end-products. The principal ones include:
- Study Report outlining findings and recommendations.
- Policy Plan identifying necessary policies and regulatory actions to be adopted by all study participants.
- Strategy Plan outlining subsequent phases, action steps, and a timeline for implementation.
- Land Use Plan identifying the appropriate land uses for all areas.
- Water Use Plan identifying the appropriate water related activities for all areas.
- Recreation/Open Space Plan outlining the appropriate recreational and open space uses
- Public Information Plan to share with the public the findings and recommendations produced by the study.
